Abstracting the New Town - August Exhibition

I'm having a solo show of my latest work this summer, as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - Thursday 9th August to Tuesday 14th August, at 'The Life Room Gallery' on Dundas Street, Edinburgh (dates for your diary!). I'm pretty excited, and currently working hard on the new pieces, now starting to count down the days and weeks! Most of the works will be of the surrounding streets in the Edinburgh New Town - the lovely Georgian doors and railings, windows and chimney pots, with a few Botanic Gardens Glasshouses no doubt. This current lovely weather is a gift - I'm loving getting out with my camera and sketchbook scoping out new views and compositions. And sometimes struggling to balance the 'research in the sunshine' time, with time back in the studio making the actual works! I'll keep you posted with sneaky peeks of some of new pieces as they appear.

The Edinburgh Art Book

I've had three pieces of my work selected for inclusion in the Edinburgh Art Book, to be published next year. It's the next in a series following The Cambridge Art Book, and the Oxford Art Book - lovely looking hard back books about the cities, as seen through the eyes of local artists. (The paintings are all sold already I'm afraid! - 'Forth Rail Bridge', 'Crescent Railings' and 'Great Stuart Street'). I'll post about it again when it's published and available to buy, no doubt. The Cambridge Art Book.

Out of office - 31st March to 9th April

I'm off on a much needed holiday break this next week, riding a bike in Majorca, and switching off from all things work related, including quite literally my phone. So if you should happen to contact me with regard to something, please be patient - I'll reply to you when I'm back on 9th April. Lucy.

New Website!

The past year was a busy one - with my residency to Shetland in June, solo show at Gallery Ten in October and increased commission enquiries keeping me busy in between. I'd not really had a minute to update or improve my old website, which I was aware was in need of a makeover. So here I am, making a new constructive start to the new year, by tearing myself away from painting to invest in making a shiny new site. I hope it's clear and simple enough to show you who I am and what I do. I'll do my best to keep it updated with new work, when it becomes available, which at the moment isn't often! (I'm afraid it disappears quite quickly from galleries, or I have to save it for special occasions - more to follow on that...). Lucy
